- Manchester City have won their last 18 competitive games, winning by two or more goals in 14 of these.
- Manchester City scored exactly three goals in four of their six Champions League group stage games.
- Borussia Monchengladbach have scored in 13 of their last 14 competitive matches.
Gladbach set for difficult two legs
Borussia Monchengladbach made it three games without a win in their shock 2-1 loss at home to Mainz at the weekend, and their prospects of ending this run aren’t looking promising if history is anything to go by.
The German outfit have lost three of their four previous meetings with Manchester City and conceded 11 goals in the process, and the fact they only just scraped through the group stages suggest this could be a one-sided affair.
Gladbach won just two of their Champions League group games and lost their final two outings. No other team remaining in the competition conceded more shots per game (15) on average than Marco Rose’s side and they have kept just one clean sheet in their last six competitive games.
City extend incredible winning streak
Manchester City, on the other hand, are one of the form sides in Europe right now. Their 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday made it an incredible 18 wins on the bounce in all competitions, putting them ten points clear in the Premier League and allowing their focus to shift firmly to landing the biggest prize of them all.
Pep Guardiola hasn’t won the Champions League in his last eight attempts and Manchester City have never reached a final, but if their current form is anything to go by this could certainly be the year Guardiola and City buck the trend.
Comfortable Man City win expected
The Citizens sailed through the group stages with grace, winning five of their six games and conceding just one goal in the process. They won four of these games by two or more goals and scored exactly three goals in all four of these comprehensive victories.
Considering they have won by two or more goals in five of their last six competitive games, backing another comfortable victory looks a good value option.
Two of Man City’s last four have ended in 3-1 scorelines and with their record of scoring a trio in the group stages, plus the fact that Gladbach have scored in 13 of their last 14 games, a repeat of this scoreline is our pick for a correct score prediction.
