Tricky night ahead for the Austrians

We’re likely to see an open UEFA Europa Conference League encounter in Kopavogur this Thursday evening as Austria Vienna aim to see off Breidablik following their frustrating 1-1 draw at home in the first leg.

Alex Siguroarson’s early second half strike came well against the run of play in Vienna, but it proved enough for the Icelandic outfit, who finished fourth in their domestic division last term, to keep the tie level upon leaving the Austrian capital.

On the basis of their performance in the first leg and their 2-1 weekend defeat to SV Ried in the Austrian Bundesliga curtain raiser, the visitors make little appeal for this clash, despite being available at odds-against.

However, with the favourites likely to step things up in the second instalment, an entertaining contest should be on the cards. Breidablik, who proved themselves no mugs last week, are capable of getting on the scoresheet again so we’re tipping up both teams to score and a 2-2 draw, which would see the tie go into extra time following the removal of the away goals rule in Europe this season.
