Bristol City vs Derby County Predictions
This has the makings of a really good contest between two in-form sides. Bristol City have been on the whole really impressive over the past couple of months. They’ve suffered just 1 defeat in their past 6 matches and there have been some really impressive home wins in there including a 4-1 win over 6th place Sheffield Wednesday and 6-0 thrashing of Bolton. They were within minutes of another win at the weekend but conceded a stoppage time goal to draw 1-1 at Brentford. Even so it was a solid result and their 10 point margin on the bottom 3 with just 4 games to go means they are all but mathematically safe and even that is quite likely to change on Tuesday regardless of how they get on.
Derby come in to this following 3 consecutive wins in which they’ve impressively netted 9 times conceding just once. Rams fans will be hoping they’ve hit form at just the right time and can keep that momentum going into the play-offs. They will guarantee themselves a play-off place here if they can better Cardiff’s result at Brentford. On a more cautionary note Derby’s last two games have been against the bottom 2 and they’d only taken 1 point from their 4 away games prior to Saturday’s win at Charlton.
It’s tough to pick a winner here as you can find evidence to support the idea of either side winning it. Bristol City have beaten some good teams at home including Middlesbrough and Wednesday since the turn of the year but they were also hammered 4-0 at home by Brighton so they are a bit unpredictable. Derby likewise had put in some abject displays prior to their recent flurry of wins. There isn’t in reality much at stake here and a draw perhaps looks the most likely outcome and both managers would probably settle for it given both will regard it as a tough fixture. Therefore the value might be found by backing a 1-1 draw at 11/2.
