Can Bulgaria turn their form around?

Bulgaria have been sinking down the rankings of late and are not helped by a 1-1 draw with North Macedonia in their Nations League opener on Thursday night.

That was their tenth game in a row in the competition without a win, and they have not picked up a victory in their last five internationals, four of which have seen both teams score.

However, Yasen Petrov’s side are strong at home where they are undefeated in four, but clean sheets are fairly rare, managing just three in 19, with both teams netting on 11 occasions.

Georgia soaring up the rankings

Georgia by comparison come into this tie on a sparkling run of five wins in six, rounded off by a 4-0 thrashing of Gibraltar on Thursday night.

That was their fifth successive clean sheet, but they struggle a bit more on the road, where both teams have scored in 10 of their last 17 outings.

Willy Sagnol’s side meanwhile have never lost a Nations League away game, registering three wins and three draws, with both teams netting in half of those outings.

I predict that both teams will score in this game, and although a correct score is harder to pick, I predict Georgia will win by a 2-1 margin.
