Goals at both ends backed in Mexico City

Luis Romo’s 50th-minute goal against South Korea sealed top spot in Group A for Mexico and, with Javier Aguirre potentially taking that opportunity to rest some players, Czechia may be able to get something from this game.

The European side conceded a late equaliser against South Africa to leave them with just one point. Realistically, only a win is likely to see Czechia through to the knockout stages, and that appears unlikely after their performances so far.

They should still give it a good go in Mexico City, though, and they come into this game having scored in their last nine games. Their only clean sheets in this period came against minnows Gibraltar and San Marino, though, so they are unlikely to keep Mexico at bay.

El Tri have scored in their last six games, so back both teams to score at Estadio Banorte.

Even with top spot secured, I don’t expect Mexico to roll over here. They will want to put in a performance for the home crowd, and Czechia have not shown enough to be backed for the win. However, I do think the co-hosts would settle for a 1-1 draw, with three of Czechia’s last six games ending in score draws.

It is unknown whether Raul Jimenez will feature for Mexico but, with stakes returned if he doesn’t, he is still worth backing. He found the net against South Africa and had two shots against South Korea.
