Burnley vs Aston Villa Predictions

  • Burnley have won each of their last three games.
  • Aston Villa are winless in three away, losing two of those.
  • The Clarets are seeking a third successive clean sheet and fourth straight win at Turf Moor.
  • Villa have failed to score in three of their last five games.

In-form Burnley pushing for survival

Burnley have managed three wins in a row and will be confident of making that four on the spin when they entertain Aston Villa on Saturday.

Villa did manage a 2-0 win over Norwich at home last time out, ending a five-game winless run, and have now reached the magical 40-point mark – although they are not mathematically safe just yet.

Clarets the team in need

Burnley’s form since the sacking of Sean Dyche has perhaps caught everyone by surprise and they have managed 10 points from the last 12 available ahead of the visit of the Villans.

This is actually the first meeting between these two sides this season as they are set to meet at Villa Park in a rearranged fixture later this month, but the Clarets did win the corresponding fixture 3-2 last season.

Villa have struggled on their travels of late and are winless in their last three on the road, losing two of those games, and at a big price Burnley look excellent value to record a fourth successive home win on Saturday as they look to continue their survival push.

Goals could be in short supply

Villa have failed to score in three of their last five games and Burnley have managed back-to-back clean sheets at home. As such, I’m not anticipating too much goal-mouth action when these two sides meet and a 1-0 win for the hosts looks a reasonable option in the correct score market.

Four of Burnley’s last five wins have been by one-goal margins, while each of Villa’s last seven away defeats have been by one goal and four of those have been 1-0 losses.

Burnley predicted lineup: Pope, Roberts, Collins, Tarkowski, Taylor, McNeil, Brownhill, Cork, Lennon, Vydra, Weghorst

Aston Villa predicted lineup: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Young, McGinn, Luiz, Ramsey, Coutinho, Ings, Watkins
