Burnley Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

There is a chance that Aston Villa could underperform on the back of Thursday’s Europa League success over Nottingham Forest. Villa were below par making plenty of changes in last weekend’s 2-1 loss at home to Tottenham and they have flattered to deceive on the road of late, failing to win any of their last five away league games.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Correct-score punters may want to opt for a 1-1 draw. Both teams have scored in each of the last six meetings between the sides and Villa have played out two 1-1 draws in their last five away league outings.

Burnley vs Aston Villa Predictions

  • Aston Villa are winless in five away league games
  • Villa have failed to win in ten of their last 17 matches
  • Both teams have scored in each of the last six meetings between the sides

Villa may be vulnerable on the back of European exertions

Aston Villa produced one of the performances of the season as they booked their place in the Europa League final with Thursday’s emphatic 4-0 victory at home to Nottingham Forest and they will still want to secure a top-five finish in the Premier League.

The Villans were aggressive and ruthless against Forest as they overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit but they must have exerted a lot of energy and following that up three days on won’t be easy.

Villa were below par after making plenty of changes in last weekend’s 2-1 loss at home to Tottenham and they have flattered to deceive on the road of late, failing to win any of their last five away league games.

Unai Emery’s side have lost to nil on trips to Fulham and Wolves during that period and they also lost 1-0 at Forest in the opening leg of their Europa League semi-final.

So there are some reasons to oppose Villa at a short price, especially given that this will be less important than midweek’s clash, and Burnley should be determined to show something ahead of next season’s Championship campaign.

Clarets could offer some stiff resistance

The Clarets have been awful for most of the season and a nine-game winless run, which has featured five straight defeats, hardly inspires confidence.

However, Burnley were beaten only 1-0 by Manchester City in their last home league game and they have held Manchester United, Tottenham and Bournemouth to draws since the start of 2026.

Villa have a six-point gap over sixth-placed Bournemouth with only three games to go, so even a setback at Turf Moor may not be fatal, and keeping everyone fit and healthy for the Europa League final against Freiburg in ten days time will be top priority.

So backing Burnley or draw double chance may provide the value as Villa, despite their lofty position, have the tenth best away record in the league with only six wins in 17 away league matches.

Correct-score punters may want to opt for a 1-1 draw. Both teams have scored in each of the last six meetings between the sides and Villa have played out two 1-1 draws in their last five away league outings.
