Bristol City Double Chance (Win or Draw)
Reasoning
Burnley vs Bristol City Predictions
- Burnley have failed to win three of their four home Championship games this season.
- Bristol City have avoided defeat in three of their last four away league contests.
- Antoine Semenyo has scored six goals in his last eight appearances for Bristol City and four in five this season.
Robins can wreak havoc in transition
Burnley came off battered and bruised from their Lancashire derby at Preston on Tuesday and may have been softened up nicely for Bristol City to exploit in Saturday’s game at Turf Moor. Vincent Kompany’s team dominated possession against PNE, but carved out very few clear-cut chances from open play – scoring their only goal on the night via a set-play before then conceding one in similar fashion at the other end.
Preston are a sterner defensive test for anyone than Bristol City are right now, but Nigel Pearson’s side have forwards with bags of confidence and enough creativity to carve the Clarets open in transition, which is surely the way they will have to play.
Kompany’s options also appear to be reduced after both Charlie Taylor and Nathan Tella went off injured at Deepdale while Macedonian international winger Darko Churlinov has been ruled out for a few weeks.
Injuries biting hard at Burnley
Johann Berg Gudmundsson wasn’t risked on Tuesday as his workload is managed carefully in the early stages of his comeback. Scott Twine and Kevin Long are not yet fit enough to feature while Ashley Westwood remains a long-term absentee.
Although he’s not down to the bare bones yet, Kompany’s squad is getting stretched and this game presents a great chance for Bristol City to continue their improved away form and claim at least a draw. Burnley have failed to win three of their four home Championship games this season while the Robins have avoided defeat in three of their last four away league contests.
As an anytime goalscorer bet, Antoine Semenyo cannot be ignored after scoring six goals in his last eight appearances for Bristol City and four in five this season – although he may be used as an impact substitute again. A 2-2 draw is forecast because City have scored at least two and conceded at least two in each of their last three Championship away contests.
