Burnley vs Hull Predictions

Burnley have had a bit of an up and down start to the Premier League season after winning the Championship last term. They kicked the campaign off with a 1-0 defeat at home against a very beatable Swansea side.

However, they bounced back the following weekend with a sensational win against Liverpool. They had under 20% possession throughout the match but defended brilliantly and put together a few swift counter attacking moves that got them the win. It was back to defeat next though when Accrington Stanley dumped them out of the League Cup in extra time, and then Chelsea dismantled them in a 3-0 victory before the international break.

Their lack of ability to hold onto the ball sparked Burnley into action on transfer deadline day though as they signed Jeff Hendrick from Derby to bolster their midfield options. Whether this will be enough to save them from relegation is yet to be seen, but to be fair to them, they’ve had a pretty difficult start to the season.

Hull City came into the Premier League as one of the firm favourites for relegation. They let go of a number of significant players during the summer and failed to add anyone of note to the squad. Until the latter stages of the transfer window they hadn’t made a single purchase, and a pre-season injury crisis meant that they began the season with just 15 first team players available to them.

This didn’t stop them beating Premier League champions Leicester on the opening day of the season though, and they followed it with a 2-0 win at Swansea and then a 3-1 win against Exeter City in the League Cup. They held their own against the in-form Manchester United as well, but an injury time winner from Marcus Rashford ended their unbeaten start to the season.

Hull have done extraordinarily well considering the difficulties they have faced though, and a massive amount of credit should go to caretaker manager Mike Phelan.

The visitors have now alsomade some moves in the transfer market. Ryan Mason has come in from Spurs for £13 million, whilst Will Keane and James Weir have arrived from Manchester United. Markus Henriksen and Dieumerci Mbokani have arrived on loan as well, so their squad is looking a little healthier.

Considering their fantastic start to the season I think Hull are the favourites for this clash. The bookies disagree, which means there is value to be had for us. It could be a tight match, but I think odds of 2.300 for a Hull 0.0 Asian Handicap Win are excellent value for money. I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at huge odds of 16/1 as well.
