Burnley vs Reading Predictions
These are two of the division’s form terms and both have rocketed up the league into the top 6 in recent weeks. Burnley still have the foundations of the same side they had two seasons ago which gained promotion from this league so it is no surprise to see them flying high.
Reading’s form is a little less expected though given how poor they were in the league last season. They’ve picked up some big wins too, thrashing Ipswich 5-1 and also enjoying comfortable wins over Brentford and Bristol City.
However you’d still have to say that Burnley all-round are the more impressive side. They’ve showed just enough attacking flare when they’ve needed to, especially since their record signing Andre Gray arrived from Brentford. He helped the club win 4 Championship games on the spin prior to the trip to Derby on Monday. At the iPro Burnley drew 0-0 and showed they also possess the ability to set up to be solid and grind out results in the more challenging matches and that will stand them in very good stead in the long run.
They are likely to revert back to a more attacking strategy here and have had the advantage of not playing in midweek as opposed to Reading who lost to Everton in the Capital One Cup. The visitors will also be without the suspended Orlando Sa, who has been their prime goal threat this season with 4 Championship goals to his name.
Therefore with home advantage at Turf Moor where they are very strong you have to fancy Burnley to get the better of Reading and make it 16 points out of a possible 18 in the league. They are available at generous odds of 7/5 to do that.
We are likely to see a reasonably open game. Reading have all of a sudden transformed into a much more positive side and it has produced results so they should come here with the same philosophy. Burnley conceded in all of their last 3 Championship wins so they aren’t completely tight defensively and two of those wins were 2-1. A repeat is quite likely here and you can back them to record another 2-1 win at 17/2.
