Burnley vs Sheffield United Predictions
- Both teams have not scored in four of Burnley’s last five home league games.
- Both teams have not scored in four of the last six Sheffield United games.
- Burnley have kept four clean sheets in their last six contests.
Brilliant Burnley impossible to oppose
Burnley celebrated promotion on Good Friday and as long as they aren’t suffering from a hangover Vincent Kompany’s side will probably be too good for the side who look destined to finish second in the Championship – Sheffield United.
The Clarets now need just 11 points from their final seven games to secure the title, while 13 from a possible 21 will see them become the first Championship team to break the 100-point barrier since Leicester City in 2013-14.
The Lancashire club did not set out to break records this season, but that is how Kompany will be motivating them now that their first goal has been achieved. There is a chance for them to become the first team to go unbeaten at home in a Championship season since Newcastle United in 2009-10, which is why they surely won’t slip up against the Blades.
Bramall Lane blitz will motivate Clarets
Another major motivation for Kompany’s squad will be the memory of being blitzed 5-2 in an extraordinary clash at Bramall Lane earlier this season. Despite that seven-goal thriller, there is not much evidence for a high-scoring clash between these clubs.
There were fewer than three goals in the previous four-head-to-head meetings and there have now been fewer than two goals in six of the last seven United league games. Backing unders is always tricky where Burnley are involved but ‘Both teams to score – no’ makes a lot more sense. Both teams have not scored in four of Burnley’s last five home league games and also in four of the last six Sheffield United games. Meanwhile, Burnley have kept four clean sheets in their last six contests.
A correct score play of 1-0 to the hosts is recommended because Burnley are clearly the better team, and are playing at home with lots of confidence and relatively no pressure.
