Tip Reasoning

  • Watford have won their last four meetings with Norwich.
  • Norwich have lost each of their last 14 Premier League games, scoring just twice in the process.
  • Both meetings between these sides last season ended in a 1-0 win for Watford.

Dismal Canaries’ losing streak continues

Norwich’s pointless start to the Premier League season continued last weekend with a 1-0 loss at Arsenal making it four defeats from four since their promotion from the Championship, but they will be hoping a clash with a fellow newly promoted side can spring them into action on Saturday.

It will be far from an easy game for the Canaries though, who come into this match having lost their last 14 top-flight fixtures, scoring just two goals in the process. Daniel Farke’s side were widely touted as relegation fodder at the start of the season and they have done little to suggest they will upset the odds so far.

Watford hoping for a confidence boost

Watford were also one of the pre-season favourites for the drop and while they remain among the frontrunners they have at least enjoyed a better start to life in the top flight than their opponents.

The Hornets began the campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win at home to Aston Villa but have lost their last three games since then, with their only solace being a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

Hornets to claim crucial win at Carrow Road

Both of these sides should see this as an opportunity to kickstart their season and it’s these types of games that relegation candidates need to win if they are to avoid the drop. For me, Watford are the more likely victors at Carrow Road, despite the bookmakers favourite the home side.

Watford have won their last four meetings with Norwich and beat them 1-0 both home and away last season. Backing a Watford win at fairly long odds looks a fantastic offering, along with a 1-0 correct score prediction.

Ismaila Sarr stands out in the anytime goalscorer market, too. The Watford attacker got off to a scoring start against Aston Villa earlier this season and found the net in Watford’s home win against Norwich last season.

Norwich predicted lineup: Krul; Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Williams; Gilmour, Lees-Melou, McLean; Cantwell, Rashica, Pukki

Watford predicted lineup: Bachmann; Cathcart, Troost-Ekong, Sierralta, Rose; Etebo; Sarr, Sissoko, Kucka, Dennis; King

  • Under 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in Watford’s last three Premier League games
  • Watford have scored the first goal in three of the last four Premier League meetings with Norwich
