Norwich to Win

Reason for tip

Norwich, who were on thew wrong end of a dubious penalty call in Friday’s 1-1 draw with Reading, can win if they harness the more positive vibe around Carrow Road after Dean Smith’s sacking to their advantage. Watford, meanwhile, have lost back-to-back games amid a major injury crisis.

Norwich 2-1

Reason for tip

Norwich have kept only two clean sheets in their last ten games and Watford have shipped at least two goals in four of their last nine away trips, but did score in the majority of those.

Norwich vs Watford Predictions

  • There is already a more positive vibe around Carrow Road after Dean Smith’s sacking.
  • Norwich were on thew wrong end of a dubious penalty call in their 1-1 draw with Reading.
  • Watford have lost back-to-back games amid a major injury crisis.

Fresh start for Norwich as Bilic feels the heat

Norwich can keep the pressure on Slaven Bilic by condemning his injury-hit Watford side to a third straight festive defeat on Monday.  The Canaries are already feeling better about life after parting company with Dean Smith and, by most accounts, there was a more positive atmosphere around Carrow Road on Thursday than in other recent home games.

City were denied a win by a dubious late penalty award as Reading picked up a point to maintain their playoff push, but there were some good signs from the hosts. Interim boss Allan Russell handed Adam Idah his first start of the season and he lashed in Norwich’s opener after linking up well with Teemu Pukki.

Sam McCallum and Marcelino Nunez were also recalled and the whole side instantly looked better balanced and potent.

Watford missing their most dangerous player

Watford, on the other hand, were spanked 4-0 at Swansea last week and face a second gruelling road trip in a few days as they head to Norfolk again without many of their best players. Joao Pedro’s loss has been hard to compensate for as there is nobody else in Bilic’s squad capable of causing damage in the areas that he operates.

The Hornets look likely to fail again here and are best opposed in the simplest way possible – by backing a home win.

A 2-1 Norwich win is the correct score play that best suits where these two clubs are right now as the hosts have kept only two cleans sheets in their last ten and Watford have shipped at least two goals in four of their last nine away trips, but scoring in the majority of those.
