Burton Albion vs Cardiff Predictions
These are troubled times for Cardiff City, who lie down in 23rd place after 10 games that have produced only 8 points. Paul Trollope must have thought his side had got the win that would kick-start their season last weekend, when they came from behind to win 2-1 at Rotherham thanks to 2 goals from new signing Rickie Lambert. However, the Bluebirds were brought back down to Earth with a bit of a bump in midweek when they were beaten 2-0 at home by fellow strugglers Derby and once again the pressure is back on Trollope and his players to get a result here, against pre-season relegation favourites Burton.
The Brewers have given a decent account of themselves at this level so far though. A winless run of 5 games has seen them slide down the table a little but they have only been beaten by more than 1 goal on one occasion, so Nigel Clough will feel his side has enough to at least mount a serious push for survival. If they are to stay up though this is surely the sort of game they need to be winning. They have won twice at the Pirelli already this season and looked to be heading for a 3rd win in midweek, only to concede a 70th minute equaliser against QPR.
Of the two sides though you have to say Burton look the more likely winners here. Cardiff have lost 5 of their last 6 matches with that one win coming against bottom club Rotherham. Defensive issues remain a big concern and they haven’t kept a clean sheet since the opening day of the season at Birmingham. They aren’t scoring enough goals to get their defence out of trouble either and against a well-organised side like Burton they aren’t likely to get as many chances as they did at Rotherham last weekend.
Therefore backing Burton Albion 0.0 Asian Handicap at 1.775 looks a decent shout here.
