Burton Albion vs Rochdale Predictions
- Burton Albion have failed to score in 62% of their home matches.
- Burton Albion have scored 81% of their goals away.
- Rochdale have scored just three times in their last six league matches.
Goals at a premium
It has not exactly been the sort of season that Burton Albion fans will write home about as they have struggled to find the back of the net on a regular basis and they currently find themselves well down the table as a result. The hosts lack of ability to score means that, perhaps unsurprisingly, they come into this match having won just once in their last seven league encounters.
The hosts are one of the lowest scorers in the division with just 21 goals to their name, and it is a record which only gets worse when you look at their form on home soil. At the Pirelli Stadium they have scored just four times, which is a woeful average of just 0.5 goals per game. While they do not concede too many, with just five goals going in at the other end when at home, that lack of offensive threat unsurprisingly means they have one of the worst home records in the division.
Away day blues
While the lack of attacking threat of the hosts will be music to their visitors ears, it is not as if Rochdale have been pulling teams apart of late. The visitors have plenty of problems of their own at the moment and the 22 points they have put on the board this season means that they are only just keeping their heads above water in terms of the relegation battle.
The visitors managed to put an end to five successive league defeats last time out as they saw off Rotherham with a 1-0 win, but that goal was just the third time they have managed to find the back of the net in their last six outings. While their offensive record is not as bad as their hosts, they know that they need to find the back of the net on a more regular occurrence if they are to pull themselves to safety.
A tight affair
With the troubles both of these sides have shown in finding the back of the net, it should come as no surprise to learn that we do not expect there to be a lot between these two sides. With just nine goals scored in total at the Pirelli in the league this season, it is a venue which is well used to low scoring matches, and given that the visitors have scored an average of just 1.4 goals per game on the road, backing there to be less than 2.5 goals scored looks to be a pretty safe bet.
In keeping with this, our correct score tip has a tight match feel as we think just one goal will be enough to settle it. The hosts average just 0.5 goals per game at home and they have failed to score 62% of their matches on home soil, however they have managed to keep a clean sheet in 50% of their home matches so far. The visitors had a morale boosting win last time out but they will be aware that if they continue to score at a rate of just 0.5 goals per game as they have done in their last six league matches, then a 1-0 away win looks on the money to us.
