Cagliari vs Napoli Predictions

Napoli have won the last three Serie A head-to-heads with Cagliari and can continue to dominate this fixture when they visit the Unipol Domus on Friday.

They were 1-0 winners against Cagliari the last time these sides met in Serie A, in August, and had the chances to beat them by more than the one-goal margin. Napoli dominated the game with 67.3% possession and Cagliari won no corners, the fewest of any Serie A game they’ve played this season (average 3.5).

Cagliari could not break their losing habit last time, going down 3-1 to ten-man Pisa on Sunday in their last Serie A outing, despite having 71.7% possession, more of the ball than in any game they’ve played this season. Leonardo Pavoletti hit the back of the net for Cagliari, but they have now lost 13 of the 22 games this season in which they’ve shipped the first goal (59%). This was a disappointing result for Cagliari, who had been priced at 19/10 to win.

Cagliari are on a disappointing run, without a win in six Serie A games and having sustained two successive reverses. Four of the last six matches have ended in defeat and they have gone three home games without a win.

Napoli have kept Cagliari at bay in the last three Serie A head-to-heads between the sides.

They have been solid favourites lately, winning their last six Serie A games in which they were odds-on.

Napoli are in an attacking mood. They have scored at least twice in six of their last seven Serie A games and have netted two or more goals in 17 of their 29 matches this season.

Six of the last eight Serie A matches between this pair have stayed under 2.5 goals and Cagliari have suffered five 2-0 losses in the league this season, so a 2-0 away win for Napoli looks a decent correct-score option.
