  • Hibs have conceded two goals in each of their two away Premiership games this season.

Hearts have home edge in Edinburgh derby

Hibs and Hearts sit first and second in the Scottish Premiership going into the weekend of their first league meeting in 18 months.

The Edinburgh derby is usually a rip-roaring affair, but this one has the added spice of two unbeaten sides going head to head in front of packed stands too.

Drama is to be expected as the games are never dull when they face off even if the quality is often secondary to commitment and intensity.

Jack Ross’ Hibs began their campaign earlier than usual because of Europa Conference League qualifiers, using those games as a springboard to hit the ground running in the league.

They came from behind to beat Motherwell at Fir Park before beating Ross County at home, then earned a 2-2 draw at Dundee ahead of their 2-0 home success against Livingston.

Hearts have done Robbie Neilson proud too with an opening round home win over Celtic and away victories at St Mirren and Dundee United.

Their only dropped points came in a 1-1 draw with Aberdeen when the Dons upped their pressing game late on.

Hibs’ usual style of play is to sit back and counter-attack, which may serve them well usually, but their leading scorer Martin Boyle is a doubt for this one after picking up a knock on international duty.

The pacy winger is central to Ross’ gameplan and would be a big miss if unavailable, pushing the odds in favour of the hosts to get the win they crave.

We’re in favour of the Jambos for this one and believe they can come away with the same result they did against Celtic on opening weekend – a 2-1 victory.
