Cardiff vs Burton Albion Predictions
The seasons of these two clubs appear to be heading in opposing directions. Cardiff have recovered from a poor start and look capable of climbing towards a safe mid-table finish. Burton meanwhile are heading the other way and are starting to look a little bit out of their depth at this level. Therefore, it is certainly the Welsh club who look the most likely winners here.
It’s just 1 defeat in 7 Championship games coming into this match for Cardiff. They showed real spirit to stage a dramatic late comeback to win 3-2 at local rivals Bristol City last weekend. Anthony Pilkington continued his rich vein of form with a brace, to take his tally to 5 goals in his last 6 games. Against the out-of-form Brewers, there should be more chances to add to that and backing Pilkington to score anytime at 15/8 looks to offer value.
Cardiff have won 50% of their home games in the Championship under Warnock and have carried a much greater goal threat overall. They still look a bit dodgy at the back at times but Burton are struggling for goals and don’t really possess the sort of quality required to really expose those deficiencies.
They suffered a bitter blow last weekend with a 2-0 home defeat against fellow strugglers Wigan. They’re now just 1 point above the drop-zone and in the worst form of the sides down there. With 7 defeats in their last 8 matches in all competitions they don’t exactly head here with much confidence and it’s hard to see them getting a result. The East Midlands club average just 0.62 points per game on their travels with their only victory coming at bottom club Rotherham.
The Millers are also the only side with a worse away record than them and with Cardiff looking much stronger now, the Bluebirds should claim all the points here. You can back Cardiff to win at 5/6.
