Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

The Cardiff City Stadium has hardly seen a plethora of goals this season with seven of the eight league matches taking place there producing fewer than three in total. Meanwhile, the visitors have also been involved in tight clashes when they’ve been on the road with six of their nine such outings witnessing fewer than three strikes. Cardiff are struggling to score goals but do keep things tight in the defensive department and we feel that under 2.5 goals is a very likely outcome.

Watford 1-0

Reason for tip

We think this will be an extremely cagey and tense affair as both sides go in search of a win. However, Cardiff City don’t create chances easily and we think the visitors could prove too strong and can win it via a single goal margin. We’ll take a 1-0 away win.

Cardiff vs Watford Predictions

  • Seven of Cardiff City’s eight home league games have witnessed fewer than three goals.
  • Six of Watford’s nine away league matches have seen fewer than three goals scored.
  • The hosts are struggling for goals right now but are at least remaining resolute in defence.

Stingy Cardiff City

The Bluebirds come into this one having ended a three-match losing streak by securing a 1-0 victory at home to Rotherham United. It also marked a third successive match that finished with a 1-0 scoreline and caretaker manager Mark Hudson would be elated if that happens again in his sides favour. Seven of the eight league matches to take place at the Cardiff City Stadium this term have produced fewer than three goals and another tight clash is anticipated.

Watford currently sit outside the playoff spots and it’s largely due to their mediocre away form. Of the 26 points they have accrued, just ten have come away from home. Efficient finishing has also been a problem as showcased in their last away match against Wigan Athletic where, despite winning 1-0, they managed just two shots on target throughout the match.

Goals to be in short supply

We think the hosts will look to keep things tight at the back and will try and grind Watford down. However, we think the visitors will eventually find a way through to claim the points. But our main play will be on this one producing fewer than three strikes.
