Chelsea vs FC Porto Predictions

  • Chelsea have won 12 of their 17 competitive matches since Thomas Tuchel’s appointment.
  • Porto have lost three of their last eight games in all competitions.
  • Six of Tuchel’s 12 wins as Chelsea boss have been by 2-0 scorelines, with five of those coming at home.

Blues respond emphatically after Baggies defeat

Chelsea headed into the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Porto off the back of a shock 5-2 defeat at home to West Brom, but Thomas Tuchel’s side responded in the perfect way in Sevilla.

They dominated possession against Porto, and while they only had six shots to Porto’s 12 they made their chances count. Goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell put them in a commanding position, and we can expect more of the same when the two sides meet again on Tuesday.

Mason Mount in particular is worth watching. He has excelled under Tuchel and is proving an integral part of his plans, making him our choice as a goalscorer tip in our Chelsea vs Porto bet builder.

Porto’s excellent run coming to an end

Porto have done well to make it this far in the competition but a two goal deficit is huge against a Chelsea side that know how to defend a lead under Tuchel. Their anomalous thrashing to West Brom aside, they have conceded just three goals in 15 games since his appointment, winning 12 of those games.

Porto, meanwhile, lost at Juventus after their first leg win and only went through on away goals. The Portuguese giants are in a hotly contested title battle with Sporting Lisbon domestically and head into this having lost three of their last eight in all competitions.

Chelsea to make light work of Porto in Seville

Backing Chelsea to consolidate their first leg lead with another win on Tuesday is advised. They have put that result against The Baggies behind them with successive victories and have won five of their last seven home games.

We’re also backing another 2-0 win for the Blues. They beat Porto by that scoreline last week and in their home leg against Atletico Madrid. In fact, half of their 12 victories under Tuchel have been 2-0 scorelines, with five of those coming at Stamford Bridge.
