Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

Chelsea put a halt to their two match losing streak last weekend when they beat Bournemouth 4-1. The scoreline suggests a great level of comfort for Chelsea, but the fact is that Bournemouth held their own for the first half and deserved a more respectable scoreline. One major boost will be the return of Eden Hazard to the scoresheet though, with the misfiring Belgian netting his first two goals in the Premier League this season.

This win made it two victories, four defeats, and one draw in their last seven outings in all competitions, including their elimination from both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

As far as league position goes, it looks like they will have to settle for a season out of continental competitions. They come into this match in 9th position, seven points adrift of Southampton in 8th.

Tottenham Hotspur saw their Premier League title ambitions get dealt a huge blow on Monday night when West Brom produced a fine display to earn a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane. Admittedly, the hosts did have the better of the first half and deserved their goal, but the Baggies came back at them and drew level, and after that Spurs seemed to let the pressure of the title race get to them as they misplaced passes and gave away possession needlessly.

This leaves Spurs seven points behind top of the table Leicester, meaning that they need to win all of their remaining matches whilst hoping that Leicester only pick up two points from their remaining three matches. In fact, by the time Monday rolls around the title could be Leicester’s, although they will have to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford first.

Stranger things have happened, but it seems incredibly unlikely that Spurs will claim the title in the most surprising Premier League season ever.

Their record is fairly good though. They have won three and draw two of their last five matches, scoring 12 goals along the way. Spurs’ attacking traits have led to some high scoring games recently, with four of their last six games seeing at least three goals. Chelsea have seen more than two goals scored in five of their last seven.

Both of these sides are in excellent attacking form at the moment, so I can’t see either of them managing to keep a clean sheet. I’m not expecting a 1-1 draw either, so odds of 1/1 for Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score offer some value. I’m going for a high scoring 2-2 draw at 10/1 as well.
