Cheltenham vs Grimsby Betting Tips & Predictions

Cheltenham’s defeat at Wrexham on Monday saw the Conference National leaders miss out on the opportunity to extend their lead in the table, instead seeing Forest Green cut the deficit by one point after their draw.

This means that the points gap between 1st and 2nd sits at just two points, whilst Grimsby sit down in 3rd with a 14 point deficit but with three games in hand on the two teams above them. This certainly isn’t a two horse race just yet.

Cheltenham’s defeat continued their lacklustre run of form, and they have now won just two of their last seven league matches, with three defeats and two draws making up the rest of the results.

Grimsby also lost on Monday as Macclesfield got the better of them, ending their eight match unbeaten streak and resigning them to just their 3rd defeat in their last 21 games. Seven of Grimsby’s last nine matches have ended in victory for them as well.

However, the majority of these matches have been on home turf, and away fro home they have won just two of their last five, losing two and drawing one in the process.Cheltenham, on the other hand, have won five of their last six home matches and have only failed to win two of their last 11 games at the Abbey Business Stadium.

This is a must win game for both sides. A loss for Cheltenham would see Forest Green given the opportunity to leapfrog them this weekend, while a defeat for Grimsby would all but end their title hopes.

Cheltenham’s home form is excellent at the moment. They are unbeaten in six matches there and have won five times in addition to having a good recent record against the visitors.
