      Club Brugge/Club Brugge

      Reason for tip

Champions Club Brugge take on newly-promoted Kortrijk and it’s likely to be one-way traffic for the Blue and Blacks. Ivan Leko has lost some big performers in the summer, but there have been more shrewd additions and it’s likely to be business as usual for Club Brugge.

      Club Brugge 3-1

      Reason for tip

Kortrijk couldn’t have been set a more difficult task on their return to the Belgium top flight and it’s likely to be hard work for the promoted side. Club Brugge scored 91 league goals last season and they are heading for another impressive success.

      Club Brugge vs Kortrijk Predictions

      • Club Brugge won ten of their final 12 league games of last season
      • Club Brugge have scored 25 goals in their last seven league matches
      • Club Brugge have lost only two of their last 15 matches against Kortrijk

      Brugge can boss outclassed rivals

Club Brugge beat Salzburg and hammered Rangers to qualify for last season’s Champions League and the Blue and Blacks beat Monaco, Marseille and Kairat in the league phase of Europe’s premier competition.

The Belgians were beaten by Atletico Madrid in the knockout rounds of last term’s competition, but Ivan Leko’s men drew 3-3 with a strong Atletico Madrid side in the playoffs before falling to the Spanish side in the return fixture.

Brugge have once again been raided for their talent in the summer, with Christos Tzolis, Aleksandar Stankovic and Raphael Onyedika all leaving the club, but Leko has been able to add to his squad.

Freddie Potts is the latest in a series of youthful signings which include Andrej Vasovic, Han-beom Lee and Cheveyo Tsawa.

Club Brugge are 6-4 favourites to successfully defend the Belgian Pro League title they won last year, but Union Saint-Gilloise will be aiming to chase down the Blue and Blacks.

Leko’s men start their league campaign with a home tie against Kortrijk, who earned promotion back to the top flight last term.

It’s no surprise to see Club Brugge as red-hot favourites in this spot and they should be ready to go following last week’s Super Cup tie with Union SG.
