Reasoning
AGF Aarhus vs Sabah FK Predictions
- Sabah FK have won their first four Champions League games
- AGF have failed to win their first two league games of the season
- The hosts were beaten 4-1 at home in the last round
Sabah can continue winning run
After waiting since 1987 for another chance to play in Europe’s top competition, AGF Aarhus fell apart in their opening Champions League qualifier of the campaign. They were beaten 4-1 at home by Lech Poznan, but they completed an incredible reverse in the second leg, winning 4-1 in Poland before progressing on penalties.
It’s been a tricky start to the season for AGF, who have drawn their first two Superligaen matches of the season. Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Lyngby saw them concede 3.37 Expected Goals, and they’ve got little recovery time, with their next European assignment coming on Wednesday.
Sabah FK are playing in the Champions League for the first time, and it’s fair to say they’ve taken to the competition. The Azerbaijani champions have won all four of their qualifiers to date, eliminating TNS 4-1 on aggregate in the first round, before a 3-0 victory over Finland’s KuPS.
It’s part of an incredible rise for a club founded in 2017. They dethroned a dominant Qarabag side to win their first domestic title last season, and they can continue their stellar start in the Champions League.
AGF were outplayed in their last home European game, and following two underwhelming domestic displays, the Danish side are backed to struggle once again.
