Columbus Crew vs Montreal Impact Betting Tips

2^nd placed MLS Eastern Conference finishers Columbus Crew didn’t have the best of times when they entered the MLS Conference Playoffs last week.

They played the first leg of their semi final against Montreal Impact, letting a one goal lead slip to eventually lose 2-1 thanks to goals from Patrice Bernier and his substitute replacement Johan Vanegas.

This made it two wins and three losses in Columbus Crew’s last five games, a disappointing end to the season and a bad way to enter the MLS playoffs.

Montreal Impact, on the other hand, have now won five matches in a row, including the win against Columbus Crew and a duo of wins against their arch rivals Toronto FC.

Their good form towards the end of the season allowed them to finish in 3^rd position in the MLS Eastern Conference, with only two points separating them from Columbus Crew at the end of the regular season.

Six of their 51 point total came directly from Columbus Crew, which makes it four wins from their last five meetings with Columbus Crew. Only one of these came away from home though.

Montreal Impact have won their last two away games in the MLS, but before that they had lost four of their previous six and drew the other two.

Columbus Crew have only managed two wins from their last six home matches though, and interestingly all of the last nine home matches they have played have ended with three or more goals.

This makes an Over 2.5 Goals bet look attractive, but odds of 13/20 aren’t the best value.

Considering Montreal Impact’s good form coming into this, I think that the visitors can get a result at Columbus Crew. Odds of 5/6 for a Montreal Impact Win or Draw Double Chance look like much better value for money, so I’m backing that along with a 1-1 draw at 11/2.
