Como vs Manchester United Predictions
- Como have just one defeat in their last 11 at home stretching back to last season
- Manchester United are winless in six across all competitions
- United have a number of selection issues
Home comforts give Como the edge
Manchester United saw their winless run extended to six games with a 1-1 draw at Leeds on Sunday and now they turn their attentions to a tough midweek Champions League trip to Como.
Como are competing in the Champions League for the first time and Wednesday’s game against the three-time winners is one of the biggest fixtures in the club’s history, but they are the deserved favourites and can back that up by claiming three points.
Cesc Fabregas’ side have a strong home record as they are yet to be beaten at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia this season and have just one defeat in their last 11 at this venue stretching back to last term. Como thrashed RB Leipzig 4-1 at home in their Champions League opener and were unfortunate not to claim at least a point in a 3-2 defeat at Feyenoord, while United have underwhelmed for some time now.
Visiting manager Michael Carrick has a host of selection issues with Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu, Benjamin Sesko and Manuel Ugarte all injured. Lisandro Martínez and Kobbie Mainoo are doubts, while Leny Yoro is suspended.
With the United squad stretched and out of form, Como can make the most of their home advantage and pile more pressure on Carrick by picking up the win but the game should be fairly close.
A 2-1 Como win is the correct score pick as clean sheets have been an issue for I Lariani with just one in nine games across all competitions this season, while both teams have scored in three of United’s last four.
Anastasios Douvikas is the focal point of the Como attack and he comes into the game in good scoring form. The Greek striker has scored in back-to-back games and has found the net in both of Como’s league phase games so far, he can extend his European scoring streak with an anytime effort on Wednesday.
