No way back for the Nomads

Connah’s Quay were thrashed 4-1 in the first leg of their Europa Conference League qualifying tie against Kosovo’s Prishtina and appear to be heading out of the competition.

The Welsh champions do boast an impressive record at home and they will be at least looking to restore some pride, but a three-goal deficit looks too much to recover from against Prishtina.

Connah’s Quay have just 1 defeat in their last 16 home games across all competitions and managed a 2-2 draw with Armenian outfit Alashkert in Europa League qualifying prior to dropping down into the Europa Conference League.

However, the Nomads did lose two European qualifiers at home last summer and although they may not be thrashed again by Prishtina we’re still expecting an away win.

The Kosovan club went down 3-0 at Hungarian club Ferencvaros in Champions League qualifying in their last away day.  That defeat ended a nine-game unbeaten run on the road for Prishtina, with eight wins and one draw, and they can finish off this tie with a win.

Prishtina have only scored more than two goals twice in their last 10 away games and as Connah’s Quay have only failed to score in one of their last 16 home games we feel a 2-1 win for the visitors has a chance in this match-up.
