Coventry to Win

Reason for tip

Coventry’s final-day win over Middlesbrough made it seven wins from their last eight Championship home games, including a 3-0 triumph over Sunderland in March. The Black Cats ended the season with five consecutive defeats, scoring just once in this run.

Coventry 2-0

Jack Rudoni To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Jack Rudoni scored both goals in Coventry’s win over Middlesbrough on the final day of the season and has six goals and two assists in his last ten appearances. He scored at the Stadium of Light earlier this season and could come back to haunt Sunderland again.

Coventry vs Sunderland Predictions

  • Coventry have won seven of their last eight home games.
  • Sunderland have lost their last five league fixtures.
  • Sunderland have scored just one goal in their last five matches.

Sky Blues can secure first-leg lead

A 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on the final day of the Championship season saw Coventry secure a play-off berth, and they should be able to get a first-leg lead under their belt against a struggling Sunderland on Friday.

The Sky Blues beat Sunderland 3-0 at the Coventry Building Society Arena in March and have won seven of their last eight games at this stadium, only losing to the promoted Burnley during this spell.

They have kept a clean sheet in their last four home wins and come up against a Sunderland side that ended the campaign with a whimper, losing each of their last five games and scoring just once in the process.

Another home win for Coventry looks a good bet and, given the Black Cats’ torrid goalscoring record of late, a third successive 2-0 triumph at home appeals as a correct score prediction.

Versatile midfielder Jack Rudoni scored both goals in Coventry’s final-day triumph, and the 23-year-old is a good price to add to his nine-goal tally on Friday. He has scored six and assisted two in his last ten games and found the net at the Stadium of Light earlier this season.
