Crawley Town vs Exeter Predictions

As we approach the festive period there have already been plenty of twists and turns in the race for the League Two title, but with the top half of the league so tight, Exeter City can ill afford to drop any points in their next few fixtures. Next up for the Grecians, is a trip to face off against a Crawley Town side who will be looking for three points to end their miserable run of form.

Crawley Town are far from in form and they have just one win in their last eight league matches. Unsurprisingly, this run of form has seen the hosts drop down the table and although they looked good in the early rounds of the season, they now appear to be in a battle in mid-table. Although they cannot be counted on for the win this weekend, they have earned 67% of their points at home so will be hopeful of a positive result. However, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of there last 10 matches and have seen both teams score in 78% of their league games, so they know that there is much work to be done in order to reverse their current fortunes.

Exeter City, on the other hand, are much better placed in the league and have won eight of their 18 matches so far this season. However, most of that success has come on home soil and on the road they are much worse, having failed to win any of their last five away league matches. It gets worse too as they have conceded in each of their last seven away league matches and appear to be struggling to keep the opposition at bay at the moment.

Neither side is on the top of their game defensively at the the moment and the lack of form from the hosts overall combined with Exeter’s troubles on the road means the win-draw-win market is best avoided. Instead, we go to the goals market and given that neither side looks capable of a clean sheet in this fixture, backing both teams to score looks to be the way to go.

The visitors may be the better team overall but their away form is poor and with both sides drawing six times this season, a stalemate looks to be the best bet for our correct score backers. Exeter have seen two of their last five away games ending in a 1-1 draw and with Crawley’s last home game also being 1-1, we think that the 1-1 draw is the most likely outcome.
