      Crvena Zvezda to Win

      Reason for tip

Red Star failed to qualify for the Champions League but still have a route into Europe here. They’ve won four out of their last five home games, and should be too good for Plzen here.

      Crvena Zvezda 2-1

      Reason for tip

Red Star have no issues finding the back of the net, with them scoring nine in an earlier round of the Champions League. They should find the net a couple of times here on route to a 2-1 win.

Crvena Zvezda vs FK Viktoria Plzen Predictions

      • Red Star have scored fiftheen in their last five home games
      • The Serbian champions won 5-0 in a previous round of the Champions League knockout
      • Viktoria Plzen reached the Europa League knockout play-offs last season

Red Star can respond in Belgrade

Red Star Belgrade will look to put their Champions League disappointment behind them when they host Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of their Europa League play-off.

The Serbian champions cruised through their opening Champions League qualifying tie, beating Larne 9-0 on aggregate, including a 5-0 victory in Belgrade. However, they came unstuck against Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the following round, losing both legs without scoring. That defeat prompted a change in the dugout, with Albert Riera taking charge ahead of Thursday’s game, and he will be hoping to make an immediate impact at the Rajko Mitic Stadium.

Viktoria Plzen are no strangers to this level, having competed in the Europa League last season and reaching the knockout play-offs before being eliminated by PAOK on penalties. However, Red Star are traditionally strong in Belgrade and showed their attacking quality with five goals against Larne last month. Back the hosts to make home advantage count and take a narrow lead to the Czech Republic with a 2-1 victory.
