Derry City vs Dundalk Predictions

Can Derry put the pressure on Shamrock?

As the 2022 League of Ireland Premier Division season nears the half-way mark, Derry are just four points off top spot, largely down to their thoroughly impressive home form.

Declan Devine’s side have lost just one of their seven home matches, picking up four wins in the process, although the last two against St Pat’s and Bohemians have ended all square.

City though have been a formidable force at Brandywell Stadium for some time, losing just two of their 21 home fixtures since early May last year, a run that includes a 1-0 win over Dundalk in August.

Dundalk struggling on the road

It is a mark of how good Dundalk are at home that they sit in third place in the table, because they are yet to register an away win this season, drawing five and losing twice in seven outings.

Stephen O’Donnell therefore hasn’t tasted victory on the road since taking the reigns for this season, with goals a clear problems as they have failed to score in four of those seven matches.

The Lilywhites have dropped points against bottom club UCD and struggling Drogheda during that run, as well as losing to table-topping Shamrock, so this is expected to be a tough clash for them.

I predict that Derry will pick up another home win in this game, but given Dundalk are reasonably strong defensively, I think it will be a tight margin of victory, selecting 1-0 as a correct score prediction.
