Dundee dust-up should suit Aberdeen

Aberdeen staged the most astounding of comebacks to open their Scottish Premiership campaign with a win but they should find their follow-up attempt a fair bit easier at Dundee. 

The Dons trailed last season’s nearly-men Hearts 1-0 in the 89th minute in their curtain-raiser, only for a Jambos collapse allowing Lewis Mayo to equalise and Kevin Nisbet to win it from the penalty spot six minutes later. 

Dundee, meanwhile, put in a valiant display at champions Celtic, only losing 1-0 in Glasgow and leaving with their heads held high. 

Dangerous Dons to down Dark Blues

However, the Dark Blues rode their luck and really should have lost by more. Celtic won the expected-goals (xG) battle 2.25-0.49 and a repeat of that performance will leave the door wide open for Aberdeen to make it two wins from two.

Stephen Robinson’s men have started the season on fire, winning all four League Cup games before the triumph over Hearts, and their run should continue at Dens Park. 

Nisbet, Tony Yogane and Connor Ronan looked lively last week and can lead Aberdeen to victory. It could pay to back them in the draw-no-bet market, though, in case Dundee goalkeeper Owen Goodman and his defenders find that extra gear they showed in the narrow defeat at Celtic.
