Hearts picking up from fine end to campaign

There have been bold words from new Hearts investor Tony Bloom that Celtic and Rangers had better watch out and the Jambos’ 2-0 victory over Aberdeen on Monday suggests they could be a good shout to at least finish best of the rest in the Scottish Premiership this season.

The Edinburgh side have continued their fine end to last season with five straight victories this term and while comfortable League Cup wins over lower-league opposition were expected, they showed their true ability by dominating the Dons.

That looks something they could repeat when they head to Tannadice on Sunday to take on a Dundee United side who did well to finish fourth last season after gaining promotion back to the top flight.

Rapid draw may have drained United

United battled well to earn a 2-2 Conference League draw at Rapid Vienna on Thursday, coming from behind twice, but there looks a strong chance that the performance could have taken its toll.

They opened up with a 2-2 draw against Championship winners Falkirk last week, but this looks a tougher assignment.

Jim Goodwin’s side are capable of making their mark, but we fancy Hearts will prove too strong in the end with correct-score punters pointed towards a 2-1 success for the Jambos.
