Eintracht Frankfurt vs Hoffenheim Predictions

Eintracht Frankfurt find themselves second from bottom after last weekend’s 1-0 loss away to Bayern Munich. They have only accumulated 27 points from 28 matches, which is their worst performance by this point in a season in the last twelve years. Eintracht Frankfurt have only one win from their last six matches (W1 D3 L2) but they have put out some decent home performances and they are unbeaten at the Commerzbank-Arena in four consecutive matches.

TSG Hoffenheim have showed some decent performances in this last weeks and Julian Nagelsmann has instilled welcome belief in Hoffenheim after his appointment as manager in February. Hoffenheim have climbed out of the relegation zone to 14th placed, admittedly only 1 point above 17th placed Eintracht Frankfurt, and amassed 14 points from their eight matches under Nagelsmann (the Bundesliga’s youngest-ever permanent head coach at 28 years old). Hoffenheim should be pleased with the point they secured in their 1-1 draw at home to the stubborn, mid-table side FC Cologne last Sunday, but aware of the importance of this fixture for their chances of survival with matches against third-placed Hertha BSC and fourth placed Borussia M’gladbach ahead in the coming weeks.

Eintracht Frankfurt aren’t in the best shape for Bundesliga survival, they too have some difficult fixtures against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund in the coming weeks. Frankfurt’s main problem throughout the season has been their weak attack, especially with the absence of veteran striker Alexander Meier in the last few weeks. Frankfurt may be unbeaten at home in the last 4 games, but they have hardly been quality affairs on Frankfurt’s part, winning 1-0 against bottom of the table Hannover 96, drawing two 0-0 and drawing the other 1-1 (all four matches under 2.5 goals). TSG Hoffenheim, on the other hand, have one of the worst away records in the Bundesliga, having only taken 10 points from 14 away matches (only Frankfurt have a worse record away from home with 9 points taken from 14 games). Combining the analysis above with the statistics below, expect this to be a relatively dull match with under 2.5 goals seeming top value. There’s not much in it between the two teams at the moment so a final score of a 1-1 draw at 5/1 seems very likely.
