Energetik-BGU vs BATE Borisov Predictions

  • BATE have won 6 of the last 7 encounters between these two clubs.
  • Both teams have scored in 4 of the last 6 meetings between the pair.
  • BATE have won their last 4 matches in all competitions (including friendlies).
  • Both teams have scored in 3 of the hosts’ and 5 of the visitors’ last 6 matches.

BATE have won their last four matches in all competitions

BATE were pipped to the 2019 Premier League title by Dynamo Brest who finished 5pts clear of the Belarus giants to claim their first-ever top-flight championship. BATE, the fifteen-time champions, are once again amongst the favourites to win the league in 2020 and they start their campaign away at an Energetik-BGU side that finished twelfth last time out.

Obviously with this being the first game of the season we have based our predictions for Thursday’s clash on how both teams performed last season, their recent record against one another, and their pre-season campaigns. BATE had the joint-best defensive record last season and finished second in the goalscoring charts, so you can start to see why we have backed the visitors to win 3-1 on Thursday.

Recent encounters between these two clubs point towards a BATE win being the most likely outcome on Thursday as the visitors have won six of their last seven matches against Energetik-BGU. Four of the duos’ last six meetings have ended with both teams scoring but BATE have scored 3 or more goals in five of the pairs last seven head to heads, adding further weight to our prediction for a 3-1 away win this Thursday.

Energetik-BGU have lost 13 of their last 15 matches against BATE

The form guide points towards a BATE win as well, with the visitors claiming four wins from their last six matches compared to the mere two wins Energetik-BGU have managed during that period. Both teams have scored in three of the hosts last six matches, none of which have produced wins for Energetik=BGU, while five of BATE’s last six outings have seen both teams score and three of those have ended in victory for the Belarus giants.

BATE scored 3-goals in their last match against Dinamo Minsk in the Quarter-Finals of the cup and that result saw the record title winners progress through 5-3 on aggregate, while Thursday’s hosts conceded 3-goals in their last matches, a friendly against Smorgon which they lost 3-2.

We’re confident that BATE will win and both teams will score on Thursday and we have predicted a final scoreline of 3-1. The visitors are the form favourites, boast an excellent record against Energetik-BGU, and finished far above their hosts last season. Despite all the off the field concerns affecting football worldwide, we fully expect BATE to put in a professional performance and get the new season off to a winning start.
