Struggling pair to cancel each other out

It has been a difficult Euro 2024 qualifying campaign to date for Estonia and Azerbaijan, who have both collected just a solitary point in Group F, which came against each other during June’s reverse meeting in Baku.

That 1-1 draw is the only time Estonia have avoided defeat across their last six matches in all competitions and they will head into this game off the back of suffering consecutive 5-0 losses to Sweden and Belgium.

Azerbaijan were also humbled 5-0 by the Swedes in their last away fixture, but that is the only time in five road matches they have failed to score.

Three of the last four meetings between these two sides have ended all-square and this struggling pair could once again cancel each other out.

Repeat result in Tallinn

There was nothing to separate these two sides during June’s 1-1 draw and there could be a repeat of that scoreline on Friday given Estonia are without a clean-sheet in six games and it is seven matches since Azerbaijan last shut an opposition out.

With just six places separating the two sides in the world rankings, this could be another closely fought contest and do not be surprised if 1-1 is how it finishes.
