      Under 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Exeter City are the standout side in League One when it comes to low-scoring games, with 15 of their 22 matches finishing under 2.5 goals. That trend looks set to continue against Luton Town. Exeter’s last six home league games have all stayed under the line, while four of their last six overall have followed the same pattern. Luton are pushing for a third straight win but have failed to win their last three away games, which points towards a tight, cautious contest.

      Draw 1-1

      Reason for tip

A 1-1 draw appeals in the correct-score market. Exeter have drawn 1-1 in two of their recent League One stalemates and are rarely involved in high-margin games. Luton are the stronger side on paper but their away form has dipped, making it hard to see them dominating. Exeter are disciplined defensively and efficient rather than explosive going forward, while Luton usually do enough to score once. A goal apiece fits both teams’ recent patterns.

Low-Scoring Battle Likely at St James Park

There may not be much excitement in Thursday’s League One clash between Exeter and Luton at St James Park, and under 2.5 goals looks the best bet. No team has had more games with under 2.5 goals in the league this term than Exeter, whose matches have gone under 2.5 goals 15 times in 22 games.

Luton are eighth in League One, 12 places above Exeter, with nine points separating the two sides. Luton have ten wins, five draws and eight defeats from their 23 games this season, while Exeter have won eight, drawn two and lost 12.

Exeter won 1-0 at AFC Wimbledon on Monday and two weeks ago were 3-0 winners over Barnsley in their last home game, but Luton are going for a third successive League One win. However, they have not won any of their last three away games.

Exeter kept up their recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals when they beat AFC Wimbledon 1-0 in their last League One game on Monday, restricting the hosts to one shot on target. Those who backed them at 19/10 were delighted with the victory.

Goals have been scarce in the hosts’ recent games, with under 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in six of Exeter’s last seven League One home games. Four of Exeter’s last six league games have also ended with under 2.5 goals.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking a decent correct-score bet. Exeter’s last two League One draws both ended in a 1-1 scoreline.
