Exeter vs Salford City Predictions
- Exeter are unbeaten in their last 12 at home
- Salford have lost just one of their last eight on the road
- The hosts have seen under 2.5 goals in 61% of home games this season
- The Ammies have seen fewer than three goals scored in their last four away from home
Exeter eyeing automatic promotion
After losing two play-off finals in the last two years, Exeter are in close proximity of automatic promotion as they sit just three points behind third-placed Plymouth, and four behind the league leaders. Despite sitting high in the table, recent results have seen the Grecians pick up just two points in their last four, with Walsall shipping three past them last weekend. The marathon continues on Saturday for the hosts who must bounce back with just nine games remaining.
If Exeter are to take the final step and win promotion, they’ll want to grab as many points as possible at home having lost just one of their previous 19 in front of their own. The hosts have defended well in the majority of games but have since seen a dip in form, failing to keep a clean sheet in each of their last 10.
Salford still flirting with playoff football
The visitors’ first season in the English leagues has seen highs and lows but inconsistency has been the main cause for concern as the run-in approaches. They’ve teased a playoff push for weeks but haven’t found a way to get through mid-table without crashing just inches before the finish line.
Since late January, Salford have picked up points in eight of their last 10 games but are still struggling to break into the playoffs as they sit eight points behind 7th place. Away from home, the Ammies are unbeaten in their last five, having won four games while conceding just two goals.
Steer clear of goals
Exeter’s have seen two wins, draws and losses in their last six games and they are struggling to net goals with all three teams above them netting more this season. A playoff spot looks the likely position and Salford are definitely striving for more at this moment in time. Exeter have seen over 2.5 goals in just 39% of home games this season and have seen a 1-1 draw in their last two.
Salford are not shy of goals on the road with 14 goals being scored in their last six. However, they have also defended extremely well in those games with just three goals going against them. Exeter are a level above Salford’s recent opponents and saw a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture early in the season. With recent form favouring the visitors, another 1-1 draw could be on the cards.
