FC Dordrecht vs RKC Waalwijk Predictions

Scott Calderwood took charge of Dordrecht for the first time last week following the departure of Gerard De Nooijer, and Schappenkoppen’s Caretaker Manager will have been delighted with the 1-1 draw at 6th placed Almere City thanks to Oussama Zamouri’s second half equaliser. But it’s still no wins in seven for Dordrecht who remain second bottom in the table, and they face a tricky fixture this Friday when they entertain an RKC side that are seeking a third league win on the bounce.

Dordrecht’s draw at Almere City last week was a huge step in the right direction for Schappenkoppen, after they’d previously claimed just a solitary point from seven away matches this season.

They were second best at Yanmar Stadion as was expected against promotion chasing City, but the way they hung on and battled back to share the spoils will have greatly pleased Caretaker Manager Scott Calderwood who was taking charge for the first time.

The long term plan isn’t clear at Dordrecht in terms of who will be stepping into the hotseat on a permanent basis, but Calderwood has done his chances no harm thus far and could be given time to impress with no threat of relegation to Tweede Divisie this term.

Next job for Calderwood is to try and break Dordrecht’s run of seven league games without a victory and on the face of things they have a decent opportunity to do just that on match day 16 against an RKC team that have lost five of their seven league outings on the road.

Nonetheless, RKC have really picked up of late with four wins from their last six in all competitions, and they head into Friday’s contest seeking their third Eerste Divisie win on the bounce following a 0-2 success at Helmond Sport a fortnight ago and a fine 1-0 triumph at home to NEC last week courtesy of a strike from Roland Bergkamp.

Waalwijk are 15th and have pulled several points clear of the stragglers as a result of their recent revival, and if Fred Grim’s side continue their decent spell leading up to Christmas, they could soon by eyeing the top half of the table which they currently trail by five points.

This is a difficult one to call as both teams will be in good spirits, but their respective home and away records make for poor reading and we can’t feasibly support either at the prices for the win.

Dordrecht probably justify slight favouritism after coming out best in last season’s corresponding fixture by a 1-0 score line, but we think a draw is the most likely result this time around. It’s an outcome that won’t harm Dordrecht’s progress and will also keep RKC ticking over, so we envisage the sides playing out a tight stalemate with 1-1 our correct score prediction.
