Tip Reasoning

  • Porto have won with at least four goals in the game in four of their last eight home contests.
  • Seven of the last ten Vizela away league games have featured at least three goals, of which they lost five.
  • Porto have won the two prior meetings with Vizela this season 3-1 and 4-0.

Vizela can expect a Porto backlash

Porto’s record-equalling unbeaten run ended at 58 games when Braga pulled off a 1-0 win over the Dragons on Monday – meaning the champions-elect still need another win to fully confirm their crown. It should come at home to relegation-threatened Vizela on Saturday after Sergio Conceicao’s side have had time to dust themselves off and refocus on the task of wrapping up the domestic double.

Standing six points clear of the relegation play-off spot with three games to go, Vizela may already have enough to secure their safety but they will want to savour this first-ever trip to the Dragao. Alvaro Pacheco’s team were well beaten on both occasions that they hosted Porto this season and can expect to feel some sort of backlash from the Braga defeat.

Goals should flow at the Dragao

Clearly, opposing Porto – as we did against Braga, albeit by taking the draw – would be foolish here. The 29-time champions have won 19 of their last 21 home league games and looked as good as anything in thrashing Portimonense 7-0 a fortnight ago.

Goals have not been a problem in front of their home fans with pretty much the entire squad contributing in some way, although Mehdi Taremi has bagged the most – many of them penalties which he has won himself. Porto can probably expect to score at least three themselves here with scope for more if they are in the mood – and some small potential for Vizela to bag once.

The visitors have scored in nine of their last 11 away league games, including in a 1-1 draw at Benfica last month, but Pacheco’s defence will be stretched every which way by this Dragons side and those two previous defeats this term suggest it will break at some point. Hence, our full-time score prediction to go alongside the recommended Porto to win with over 2.5 goals bet is a 3-1 home win.
