Fiorentina vs Sassuolo Betting Tips and Predictions

Both of these two sides have seen a dodgy patch of form result in their European dreams starting to fade. Fiorentina were strong favourites to finish in third place in Serie A a couple of months ago, earning Champions League qualification as a result, but their results have been poor of late.

It is now seven matches since Paulo Sousa’s side tasted victory and they have slipped to fifth in the table as a result. A seven point gap means they should still qualify for the Europa League, but that might be deemed a failure after such a strong first half of the season. Indeed, Sassuolo could close that cushion down to just four points with a win at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday.

Sassuolo looked to be on the charge a few weeks ago, winning three games in a row to pressurise the sides above them, but they have only won one of their last four – at relegation-threatened Carpi – and were tame in a disappointing home loss to Genoa last weekend. That final Europa League spot is not quite out of reach, but Eusebio Di Francesco cannot afford to drop many points if they are to catch Fiorentina.

With both sides struggling for form this is a tough match to call, but with goals not featuring a lot in games involving these clubs of late there could be a good angle to find in the goals market. Five of Sassuolo’s previous six games have seen under 2.5 goals, while none of Fiorentina’s last four matches have featured over 2.5 goals.
