Fluminense vs Parana Predictions

Tuesday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees Fluminense doing battle with a doomed looking Parana. The hosts are expected to pick up all 3 points in front of the home crowd with very few issues.

Fluminense arrive in good spirits, currently playing well and recording some strong results. Tricolor have won 3 of their last 4 games across all competitions and having advanced to the quarter-finals of the Copa Sudamericana in midweek, morale is running high in the home camp.

League-wise, Flu sit in a more than respectable 10th place and maintaining their top half status has to be the aim for the remainder of the campaign. With limited resources, Tricolor have done well to stand where they are and 3 wins from the last 5 as hosts has confidence high as regards recording a victory in Tuesday’s match.

Meanwhile, visitors Parana certainly do not arrive in good shape and currently 13 points adrift at the bottom of the table, we can safely say they will be making an immediate return to Serie B. Coming into the season, Tricolor da Vila looked desperately short on the quality required for top flight football and their dismal results make it apparent they have simply not been able to compete at this level.

On their own patch, whilst still underwhelming, Parana have at least been competitive but on the road it’s been another story, which has to be a huge concern coming into this game. It’s hard to remember a team from any league on the planet that has struggled as badly on their travels as the visitors have this season, with just 1 point from 13 games ranking as a simply terrible effort, made all the worse by the fact they’ve failed to even so much as score in their last 11 away games.

Ultimately, there looks to be only one possible result in this fixture and that’s a home win. Man for man, Flu are by far a stronger outfit than Parana and currently playing well, we cannot see them slipping up to such a poor opponent.

Given Paana’s struggles on the road and lack of attacking threat, backing Fluminense to win to nil looks an excellent bet and is where our money is going. The hosts have kept clean sheets in 4 of their last 5 home matches and should build on said sequence with a comfortable 2-0 margin of victory.
