Fulham vs Bristol City Predictions
These sides met at Craven Cottage on Wednesday in the League Cup. Both sides made plenty of changes for the game so we will almost certainly see different teams on display here but it’s Bristol City who emerged 2-1 winners and that will certainly provide them with a small advantage going in to the league clash. With the sides locked at 1-1 going into the closing moments, substitute Tammy Abraham, who has been nothing short of a revelation this season, popped with a 90th minute winner for the Robins. He will certainly return to the starting line-up here and will be looking to add to the 9 goals he has already scored since moving on loan from Chelsea.
Bristol City will probably be more than content with a return of 11 points from 8 games given some of the fixtures they’ve had. Already they have had to play all 3 sides relegated from the Premier League last term, as well as two of the other promotion hopefuls in Sheffield Wednesday and Derby. They also now have quite a good shot at making the Quarter Finals of the League Cup with a home game against Hull to look forward to in that competition, so Lee Johnson’s men are looking pretty good despite selling Jonathan Kodjia to Aston Villa.
Fulham started the season brilliantly but have just faded away a little. They’ve only scored 2 goals in 4 matches since the international break and the impact of the summer departures of the deadly strike-duo of Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele has become more evident. Defensively they have improved but the failure to see off Birmingham and Burton at home or Wigan away in recent weeks is a genuine concern.
Bristol City look to have a little bit more about them and, in Abraham, they have perhaps the only player on either side that looks like they could score a lot of goals this season. He was only on the pitch for 30 minutes on Wednesday and that was enough to make the difference and he could well do the same again here. Fulham are the clear favourites with the bookies but the value looks to be all with Bristol City so consider backing Double Chance – Draw or Bristol City at 4/5.
