Gazelec Ajaccio vs Bastia Betting Tips & Predictions

Gazelec Ajaccio have done a lot better than most people expected this season. They came into Ligue 1 as hot favourites for relegation due to their minnow status, but with just four games remaining they still have a chance of remaining in the top flight.

However, they need to pick up some results. They are currently in 17th position, two points from safety, and with some exceptionally tough fixtures coming up. Matches against Lyon and Paris Saint Germain follow this game before they end the season at Lorient, so they really need a win on Sunday to have a realistic chance of staying up.

They sparked a bit of a resurgence a few weeks ago when they avoided defeat four times in a run of five games, but they come into this match having lost three and drawn one of their last four. They are a little better in front of their own fans though, with just three of their last six ending in defeat.

Bastia aren’t in the best of form either. They recently lost 4-0 away to relegation candidates Toulouse and followed this up with a loss at home to Saint-Etienne last weekend. This leaves them in 12th position in Ligue 1, well clear of the relegation zone but with nothing really to play for. This could be a big advantage for the hosts. Away from home Bastia have lost four and drawn one of their last seven matches, failing to score in all four of their defeats.

I think Gazelec Ajaccio’s necessity to get all three points on Sunday will spur the hosts on. Bastia won’t be putting up a huge fight in all likelihood and the fact that they are missing two strikers through injury means they might find it difficult to exploit even the weak Gazelec Ajaccio defence.
