Germany vs Belarus Predictions

Germany are still yet to secure a place at Euro 2020, but the Euro 2024 hosts are hoping to change that this weekend. Saturday is a pivotal day at the top of this group, with two of the top three meeting. Northern Ireland fell out of the running with their back to back defeats, which allowed the Netherlands and Germany to move in front. The pair hold a three-point lead over the Northern Irish, so if they can both win on Saturday then it’s all over.

The Germans are heavy favourites to make the Euros based on the run-in, although their future prospects are less clear. We expect Germany to perform better than their World Cup debacle, but they may struggle against top sides later on. They lost to the Dutch at home before crushing Estonia on the road in their last trip. Given how poor Belarus look, we expect this to go the same way.

The visitors have picked up four points against Estonia and none against the rest. While their games against the top sides haven’t been quite as bad as Estonia’s we still expect the visitors to take a hit in this clash with Germany. They have already lost 2-0 in the reverse fixture, while they seem to be in line for a heavy defeat in this trip.

Belarus have already been beaten 4-0 at the Dutch, while they conceded another two goals to them last month. They should be wary against a Germany side who need to prove themselves on the international stage, while the visitors had a washout in their World Cup qualifying campaign. They lost each of their trips, shipping four goals to the Netherlands and Sweden.

It’s easy to see the visitors having another tough time in this one, especially given the talent in this German side. The hosts have already hit 11 goals against Estonia – including eight in the home meeting. Given their return of 20 goals in six games, we expect them to thrive in one of the easiest fixtures in the group. As a result, we are going with over 3.5 goals here.

On top of backing a high scoring game, we expect the Germans to win with ease. Belarus have scored just four times in seven group games, while Germany have only conceded to the Dutch in this group. We expect that to continue here, as we are going for a comfortable 4-0 win for Germany on Saturday as our correct score prediction.
