Germany vs Denmark Predictions
- Germany have won five and drawn two of their last seven matches.
- Germany have scored exactly two goals in four of their last seven.
- Denmark are yet to win a game in Euro 2024.
Fullkrug salvages top spot for hosts
Germany were moments away from allowing Switzerland to pip them to top spot in Group A but super-sub Niclas Fullkrug once again delivered off the bench with a 92nd-minute equaliser in Frankfurt.
That saw Die Mannschaft finish the group stage on seven points from a possible nine, but they won all three games on expected goals and should be confident of continuing their journey on Saturday.
The Euro 2024 hosts have generated 5.1 expected goals to their opponents’ 1.8 and come up against a Denmark side who qualified second from Group C, despite not winning a single one of their games.
Danes struggle to perform
Semi-finalists in Euro 2020, Denmark have not reached the same heights in Germany so far, and a goalless draw against Serbia last time out leaves them with just two goals from three games.
Kasper Hjulmand’s side have not looked bad at the back, but they are yet to face an attack of any real threat and the free-scoring Germans may be able to find holes that Slovenia, England, and Serbia could not.
Musiala to strike again in Dortmund
Julian Nagelsmann’s side have won five and drawn two of their last seven matches, which includes friendly victories over both France and the Netherlands in March.
They have averaged just 0.6 expected goals against per game so far, so I’m backing them to get the win and to keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory, which would be the fifth time in eight games in which they have scored exactly twice.
Jamal Musiala stands out as a good value goalscorer pick, too. The Bayern Munich youngster scored against both Scotland, and Hungary and has had five shots on goal this tournament, while he scored ten Bundesliga goals for his club this season.
