Germany vs Peru Predictions
- Germany are undefeated in their last 12 friendly matches
- Nine of Peru’s last ten games have featured fewer than three goals
- Peru have lost their last four matches against European opposition
Peru could make life difficult
Germany need to get their year off to a strong start after another disappointing World Cup, but Hansi Flick’s side are not guaranteed to steam past Peru in Mainz.
Die Mannschaft have a strong recent record in friendlies, but while Peru failed to qualify for Qatar, they have won their last three matches and kept five clean sheets in their last seven matches, so we are making a prediction that this meeting will produce fewer than three goals, which has happened in nine of Peru’s last ten outings.
Germany have damage to repair
It was the second successive World Cup that Germany have failed to qualify from the group stage and they have won just three of their last 11 games.
Flick has reacted by not selecting stalwart Thomas Muller for this clash, but Brazil are the only team to have beaten them in a home friendly since 2016.
The Peruvian defence is likely to be strong but it is difficult to see the South Americans producing much up front – they have scored more than once in just two of their last ten matches – so our prediction is for a 2-0 final scoreline.
