Getafe vs Real Madrid Predictions
- Getafe have failed to win any of their last four La Liga matches
- Real Madrid have won seven of their first eight league games this season
- Getafe have scored just once in their last seven meetings with Los Blancos
Getafe’s slide could continue
Getafe’s promising start to the season has fizzled out in recent weeks, and their slide could continue when Real Madrid visit the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Sunday.
Jose Bordalas’ outfit opened the campaign with three wins from four but have since gone four games without a victory, drawing twice at home and losing both away trips to Barcelona and Osasuna. The Azulones have managed just two goals in their last four league matches and have failed to keep a clean sheet since mid-September.
While their compact 4-4-2 shape remains difficult to break down, lapses in concentration and a lack of cutting edge have cost them valuable points of late. Their record against their big city neighbours offers little encouragement. Getafe have lost each of the last seven meetings and scored only once across that dismal run.
Alonso’s Madrid building momentum at the right time
Real Madrid arrive in confident mood after a 3-1 win over Villarreal and a 5-0 Champions League demolition of Kairat Almaty before the international break. Xabi Alonso’s side have responded well to their derby defeat to Atlético and sit top of La Liga heading into the weekend.
Kylian Mbappé’s return to training is a timely boost, though his minutes may be managed ahead of a crucial Champions League clash with Juventus and the looming El Clasico. Even without the Frenchman, Madrid’s attacking options remain formidable, with Vinicius Junior bagging a brace against Villarreal and others chipping in when needed.
Madrid have scored in every league game this season and boast the division’s best away record, with four wins from five on the road. Their wealth of midfield options mean Alonso can rotate to keep things fresh and they appear capable of covering any holes in defence left by the injury-enforced absences of Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Los Blancos should prevail comfortably with Getafe’s lack of firepower indicating that a win to nil could be on the cards.
