      Greece vs Hungary Predictions

Greece take on Hungary for the second time in the space of a month when the pair lock horns in the UEFA Nations League on Friday. After losing the reverse fixture in Hungary, Greece are out for revenge and only three points will see the hosts move ahead of their guests and into second place in League C Group 2.

Hungary took all three points when the pair met at the Groupama Aréna in Budapest last month, and while both teams have won one and lost one of their opening two games, and have the same goal difference, it is that result which sees Hungary sat second in Group 2 of League C ahead of Friday’s hosts who occupy third place.

A fifteenth minute strike from Sallai, after good work from Bese, saw Hungary take the lead against Greece, but Roma defender Manolas pulled Greece back onto level terms just three minutes later. A goal from Kleinheisler three minutes before the half time interval saw Hungary restore their one goal advantage.

Despite Greece dominating the overall possession with 68%, having eleven shots n the match to the hosts six, and six corners to Hungary’s one, the visitors were unable to produce an equalising goal. Hungary certainly did well to hold onto their lead in the second half and did defend well at times, but if the two teams perform to a similar standard on Friday then your money would have to go on a home win.

Greece face a trip to group leaders Finland next and will want to head to Scandinavia with six points on the board if they are to stand any chance of asserting their dominance on the group, and with Kostas Mitroglou up front they certainly have the goals in them to challenge for promotion.

Likewise, Hungary captain Ádám Szalai leads from example up front, having netted fifteen goals in forty-eight matches, and if they can keep the Hoffenheim forward fit and provide him with runners from deep then they too will fancy their chances of gaining promotion to League B.

We’re confident that both teams will score on Friday and have backed the game to end in a 1-1 draw. Both teams have scored in five of the last seven meetings between Greece and Hungary, both teams have scored in four of Hungary’s last six international matches, and when the two countries last met both teams scored and Hungary won 2-1.
