Greenock Morton vs St Mirren Predictions
This could be a potentially huge clash at both ends of the table on Tuesday, with Greenock Morton struggling for form and challenging for promotion to the Scottish Premiership, whilst St Mirren struggle against the relegation battle and hope to remain in the second flight.
Greenock Morton did manage to take a point from Championship leaders Hibernian on Saturday, following on from defeat away to Dumbarton and another draw, this time away to Hibs, last week. They are now winless in four games and have only won two of their last nine in all competitions.
Despite this poor run they remain 3rd in the table, just two points off Falkirk in 2nd and 11 points adrift of Hibernian but with a game in hand on both teams. At home they have only lost once all season in the league, winning eight and drawing the remaining six games.
St Mirren had a shocking start to the season, but they have bounced back very well and now look like they can definitely fight to remain in the Championship. They currently sit second from bottom in the table, ahead of Ayr United on goal difference and just two points from the safety of 8th placed Raith Rovers.
Saturday saw them draw at home to Dumbarton to make it five wins, three draws, and just one defeat from their last nine league games. Away from home they have won three, drawn two, and lost two of their last seven games in the Championship, which isn’t bad at all for a side struggling against relegation.
I think St Mirren have a real chance of getting something from this game given their recent resurgence. Odds of 5/6 for a St Mirren Win or Draw Double Chance look good value for money, so I’m backing that alongside a 1-1 correct score predictions at 6/1.
