Low-scoring affair on the cards

Friday’s Premier Division clash between Galway FC and Shelbourne at Eamonn Deacy Park is unlikely to produce many goals. Five of the last six league meetings between these sides have had fewer than three goals and under 2.5 goals is the recommendation.

Shelbourne are two places above Galway FC in the table, but the sides are separated by just three points. The visitors, who have seven wins, ten draws and six losses, sit fifth, while Galway are seventh with seven wins, seven draws and seven defeats.

The last Premier Division meeting between these sides produced four goals but the previous five had fewer than three goals. No team has finished more games with fewer than three goals in the Premier Division than Shelbourne this season (14).

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking like a decent correct-score bet. Galway FC have had four 1-1 draws in the Premier Division this season and if both teams score it would be the fourth game in succession for them.
