Qatar looking for first Gold
Invited guests Qatar have given themselves a real platform to build on after a 3-3 draw with Panama in their CONCACAF Gold Cup opener and they should be able to claim a fairly comfortable win over Grenada in their second game on Sunday.
Grenada, who are the lowest ranked team in the competition at 160 by Fifa, were thrashed 4-0 by Honduras in their opener and have now lost four of their last five games, with their one success coming in a narrow 1-0 win over United States Virgin Islands.
Qatar are unbeaten in their last nine with seven wins and two draws. The Asian nation have claimed wins over Luxembourg, Azerbaijan and El Salvador in 2021 and also managed to hold Ireland to a 1-1 draw in Hungary back in March.
The 2022 World Cup hosts aren’t particularly prolific scorers but they have scored three goals in two of their last three games and we feel they should be able to claim a fairly convincing win over a Grenada team who sit 110 places below them in the Fifa world rankings.
After Grenada’s big loss at the hands of Honduras in their opener we feel they could be in line for another heavy defeat so we’re taking on Qatar with a -1 handicap and a 3-0 win for the Maroon appeals.
